Private Abram Huntsberry

Abram Huntsberry was born about 1839 in Pennsylvania to John and Mary Huntsberry.  Huntsberry later settled in Guernsey County, Ohio with his parents.  By 1860 Huntsberry was living in Pickaway County, where he worked as a farm hand for William and Minerva Downes.  On March 18, 1862 Huntsberry enlisted in the Union Army, joining the company being recruited by Henry Bending in Circleville.  Serving as a private in Company C of the 61st, Huntsberry mustered out on April 1, 1865 in Raleigh, North Carolina.  Returning to Pickaway County, Huntsberry died in December 1865 and is buried in Christian Cemetery in Williamsport.
