Theodore Smith, born February 9, 1848, enlisted on February 25, 1862 in Clarksville, Clinton County, Ohio. Serving as a private in Company E of the 61st, Smith reenlisted in 1864. Returning to Clinton County after the war, Smith worked as a laborer on a farm. He married Sarah Bogan on December 4, 1869 and they would have two daughters. Smith later owned a farm in Warren County where he died on August 13, 1914. He is buried in Clarksville’s IOOF Cemetery.
