On May 11, 1863 the Cleveland Morning Leader published a list of casualties from a few of the Ohio units at the Battle of Chancellorsville, including some of wounded of the 61st. The names are included as printed in the Cleveland Morning Leader, which took the list from the New York Tribune. In parentheses are the names as spelled in the Official Roster of the Soldiers of the State of Ohio in the War of the Rebellion, 1861-1866 if different from the paper. According to a report published in the Official Records of the War of the Rebellion (Series I, Volume XXV, Part I) the 61st suffered 60 casualties in the battle: 33 enlisted men killed, 3 officers wounded and 24 enlisted men wounded.
